Since turning professional in 2003 Marcos Baghdatis has achieved significant success in a short space of time. His major achievements so far include a Singles Finalist in the Australian Open against Roger Federer and made Quarter Finalist and double Semi-Finalist at Doha.

The career’s high in Australia 2006 saw an impressive Marcos Baghdatis defeating the likes of Andy Roddick in the fourth round making it all the way to the final. In an exciting four set final in the Rod Laver Arena, Marcos Baghdatis lost 5-7, 7-5, 6-0, 6-2 to a present legend of the game Roger Federer.

However with previous wins over the likes of David Nalbandian in the Australian Open Semi-Finals 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and huge fanatical support Marcos Baghdatis has every possibility of becoming a worldwide tennis success.

Marcos Baghdatis career started at the age of five when he first picked up a tennis racquet. At the age of fourteen he showed great potential and won an Olympic Solidarity Scholarship to improve his tennis skills in France. From this jumping block he catapulted himself to reach the world junior number one in 2003 at the same times as he achieved the junior title at Melbourne Australia.

In October 2001 marcos baghdatis was crowed Singles winner at the Osaka Major’s Cup in Japan. March 2002 saw baghdatis win the Singles tournament in Brazil in the Banana Bowl. In September 2002 he was Singles Finalist at the US Open. January 2003 he was under eighteens Singles Champion at the Australian Open Melbourne. 2003 continued with great success in his tennis season coming Singles Finalist in the US Open New York. October 2003 baghdatis was crowed again Singles Champion at Osaka Major’s Cup in Japan. In December 2003 he achieved his final junior tour trophy at the Orange Bowl in the USA before turning professional.
