It is designed to conform to the Lawn Tennis Association's Traffic Light Scheme, Orange Zone. This unique coaching system introduces youngsters to tennis at 3 or 4 years' old when they enter Tennis Tots, playing on cut-down courts with miniature rackets.
Just like traffic lights they progress through the various zones starting with red for 8 years and under, they move up to Orange which is for 8-9 years and it is in this zone they are first introduced to the Junior competition framework. When they are 10 they go to green and finally to yellow when they are 11 plus.
They remain in yellow until they are 18 and enter the LTA ratings zone, tougher coaching and matchplay. This is a rough guide to the zones as obviously if someone shows exceptional talent at a young age they can be fast-tracked through the colour-coded zones.
This particular racket is specifically designed for Orange (8-9 years) but the company, which was founded in Belgium in 1978, design all the colour-coded rackets.
Red Zone Karakal Coach 21 and 19 Junior Rackets Orange Zone Karakal Coach 23 Junior Racket Green Zone Karakal Coach 25 Junior Racket, which they can use in the yellow zone until they are ready for an adult racket.
